ASME Standard BTH-1
ASME Standard BTH-1 establishes design criteria for below-the-hook lifters and requires them to be marked with a Design Category and Service Class, as defined in the standard:
Design Categories "A" and "B" correspond with different design factors, depending on how much is known about the loads that will be applied to the lifter. Design Category "B" uses more rigorous design factors than Category "A", to allow for more variation in the kind of loads and environmental conditions that the lifter may encounter.
The Service Class specifies the fatigue life for the lifter, which is expressed as the number of lifting cycles the lifter is designed to endure. Service Class "0" is assigned to lifters expected to withstand up to 20,000 lifting cycles.
In compliance with ASME BTH-1, all Wood's Powr-Grip vacuum lifters are designated with Design Category B and Service Class 0 or better, as shown in the specifications.
