Since its introduction on the glass handling scene some 15 years ago, the MR16 has gained wildly in use and acceptance. In fact, the chart of sales growth for the MR16 looks more like a moon shot than a report for the monthly board of directors. In retrospect, the performance and dependability of this behemoth explains much about its popularity. But there are several design factors that contribute to the success of the MR16.

The MR1611LDC sports a multivariable pad frame. For the customer, this means the freedom and versatility to adjust the lifter to the job. The lift bar can be assembled in two different lengths, 59-1/4" [1508 mm] or 79-1/4" [2016 mm]. The variable length and width of the pad spread allows configurations ranging from 53-1/4" long by 12" wide [1353 mm x 305 mm] to a remarkable 169" long by 49" wide [4293 mm x 1245 mm]. Because of the amazing number of ways the MR16 can be configured, it has become the tool of choice for those handling a variety of different sized loads, in the shop or on the job site. Capable of handling loads ranging from 700 to 2800 lbs [320 to 1270 kg], the MR16 features a DC power source for maximum portability and continuous 360° rotation to facilitate proper load positioning.

The recent increase in unitized curtain wall installation in new construction has also contributed to the success of the MR16. It is capably designed to excel in just such an environment. Because of the increase in popularity of this lifter for curtain wall construction, Wood's Powr-Grip has placed 2 MR16's into a lease program.
