Watch the Birth of Your Powr-Grip Cup
by David Peters

Have you ever wondered where your vacuum hand cups come from? Sure, you know they’re a Wood’s Powr-Grip product manufactured in Laurel, Montana. But have you ever pondered what goes into their creation; the design; the magic? Well in November you, along with the rest of the nation, can witness the making of a vacuum hand cup on one of DIY Network's (Do It Yourself) newest television series, “Cool Tools.”

Wood’s Powr-Grip has made the cut and will be given an opportunity only a few receive…an appearance on national television. How was this accomplished? By creating unique products that have simplified various jobs from framing family portraits, installing marble countertops, to installing glass in skyscrapers.

DIY will be presenting its new series entitled “Cool Tools” in their fall 2007 lineup. This new show promises not only to highlight the use of new and innovative tools but also to delve into many aspects of their production, including design, engineering, and manufacturing. There are some fascinating and “cool” tools out there that many have never heard of, and “Cools Tools” is a great way for those products to be recognized.

Produced by High Noon Entertainment of Denver, Colorado, they hope to add “Cool Tools” to a long list of successful shows including DIY’s “Trade School” and “Sweat Equity;” Food Network’s “Unwrapped” and “Food Network Challenge;” and HGTV’s “What You Get for the Money,” “Generation Renovation,” and “If Walls Could Talk.” One path on this endeavor brought them face to face with powered vacuum lifters and high-quality vacuum cups. In other words…they discovered the inner workings Wood’s Powr-Grip.

In February, High Noon Entertainment sent a camera crew to document the creation of Powr-Grip products. While production employees demonstrated their individual jobs, senior staff members explained the manufacturing processes and uses for Wood’s Powr-Grip vacuum lifters. Other personnel demonstrated just how helpful our products can be. The camera crew captured everything from welding to molding and painting; they wanted to see it all and we were proud to show them. At the end of the day, CEO Bryan Wood gave an in-depth interview covering topics such as corporate history, product development, and distribution. The crew left with six hours of tape which will be edited down to four to six minutes.

DIY’s “Cool Tools” will premiere Thursday, November 22nd at 8:00 PM eastern time. The Wood's Powr-Grip vacuum lifters will appear in episode 106, scheduled to premiere on Thursday, November 29th at 9:30 PM eastern time. As proud members of the Wood’s Powr-Grip team, we all look forward to presenting our product for viewers to see.

Those who do not already know about the equipment we create are sure to be impressed; those who are familiar with it will not be surprised that Wood’s Powr-Grip is receiving national attention.

David Peters has more than 30 years experience in sales and marketing. He is currently the marketing associate for Wood’s Powr-Grip Co., Inc., responsible for interactive marketing, tracking, market research and new product introduction.
