Lift and Rotate Loads Effortlessly Using Powr-Grip's® Vacuum Lifter with Integrated Hoist
by Bryan Strobel
Not to be overlooked is the recently added integration of Wood’s Powr-Grip vacuum lifters and a hoist system. Designed mainly for loading and unloading machines used in high-volume production areas, the integrated hoist offers an ergonomic solution to operators who would normally have to man at least two different sets of controls. This design puts all those controls into one easy-to-use device for maximum convenience.
The vacuum lifter pictured is equipped with 180° power rotation; however, units with other motions have been integrated with hoists, and additional lifters will be available soon. An integrated hoist is located at the top of the lifter, which provides vertical movement up and down. The combination of all these functions on one lifter usually requires several control devices, leading to much confusion. With integrated controls, however, all of these functions, as well as the vacuum operation, are managed using one ergonomic control handle that can be placed in six different positions for additional ease of use. The operator can raise or lower the lifter, maneuver the pad frame, and attach and release loads using the buttons on one device.
Integrated controls really make a difference when speed and efficiency are key to profitable production. Operators are no longer obligated to utilize one control device for a specific function, and then abandon it to reach for the controller of a separate function. There is no more confusion or time wasted trying to juggle multiple controls while trying to put out a certain quantity of product in any given time period. This allows manufacturers to streamline production, cut labor costs, and prevent worker fatigue that leads to repetitive motion injuries.
While other manufacturers have to increase customer prices to keep up with labor costs and slow production effects, your company can stay competitive by working more efficiently. Integrated controls are a great way to add productivity to your production floor while keeping operators comfortable and ready to offer quality work throughout the entire shift.
