A Suit of Armor for Your Vacuum Lifter
by David Peters
In haste to get the job done, workers may not always use appropriate care when moving a vacuum lifter from job site to job site. Similarly, when the lifter is not in use for extended periods of time, improper storage can cause unintended damage. Wood’s Powr-Grip repairs and refurbishes such vacuum lifters every day and although our lifters are manufactured to the highest standards of quality, the rigors of everyday use take a toll. While Wood's Powr-Grip Company offers a
Repair Service to keep vacuum handling equipment in top operating condition, it's not always convenient to work without your lifter while it is being repaired.
For years, Wood's Powr-Grip has shipped its vacuum lifters in wooden crates. Some of the smaller, lighter lifters can even be shipped in cardboard boxes. Unfortunately, these two materials are no match for the tines of a forklift or rough handling during transit. Once damaged, they are also marginally useful for repackaging the lifter for shipping or storage. In order to satisfy the needs of our customers and protect vacuum lifters during shipping, as well as to make storage and transporting lifters quicker and easier, Wood's Powr-Grip has produced a new shipping case.
Vacuum formed from ABS plastic, the inner tray of the case is shaped to match the footprint of the P1 channel lifter. Three integrated nylon straps hold the lifter securely in place during transport, to prevent damage to controls or gauges. The exterior of the case is designed so as to leave forklift access points on the bottom, while molded handles on both ends ease handling. Nylon straps with sturdy plastic buckles firmly hold the two sections (top and bottom) of the case together, and an inside lip helps seal the case from the elements. Additionally, the case has been designed with exterior ribs to make stacking multiple units a breeze.
Currently these ABS cases are only available for the Wood's Powr-Grip
P1 Series of vacuum lifters. In the coming months, we hope to have additional cases available for more of our popular vacuum lifters. If you are interested in obtaining an ABS case for your P1 lifter, please contact the Wood's Powr-Grip

By the way....if you would like to see a video of in-house testing that we did on the case loaded with a new P1 lifter,
