Get a Grip on Patterned Glass
by Lisa Hagel
Lifting, moving and positioning patterned glass can be a challenge! Did you know that Wood’s Powr- Grip has hand-held
vacuum cups designed for handling textured or patterned glass? Ideal for handling shower doors and windows with patterned, textured, cast and irregular surfaces, these special vacuum cups meet the challenge by using a soft rubber vacuum pad with a unique sealing edge to conform to the irregular surface.
These innovative features save time and money by improving the way workers handle the glass, reducing glass damage, worker fatigue and injuries. Available in two styles, these vacuum cups use an 8" [20 cm] diameter, 35 durometer vacuum pad that has 75 lbs. [34 kg] lifting capacity.
The N4000TS textured surface vacuum cup features the same ABS handle used on the popular Wood's Powr-Grip N4000 vacuum cup. This cup works well in wet or high humidity conditions and is rust resistant and very lightweight.
Employing the same handle used on the N4950 Wood's Powr-Grip vacuum cup, the
N4950TS textured surface vacuum cup uses a durable, time-tested metal handle, long trusted by glaziers worldwide.
The Wood's Powr-Grip hand-held vacuum cups used on irregular surfaces look very similar to the standard, flat surface style of cups. Closer inspection reveals a special kind of rubber and a unique edge design that facilitates use on various types of irregular surfaces. Wood's Powr-Grip ships these cups in a special gray case so glaziers can easily differentiate between the standard cups (shipped in a black or yellow case) and the special textured surface cups. This distinction is important as each style of cup has a different load capacity rating. Due to a different rubber compound, the textured surface cup naturally has a slightly lower rating than standard cups.
