Wood's Powr-Grip Online Forum Tutorial

Wood's Powr-Grip Online Forum Tutorial

In order to promote participation on the Wood's Powr-Grip Online Forum, we have constructed this brief tutorial to assist those unfamiliar with the mechanics of how to navigate the forum's technology.  It is by no means comprehensive.  It is merely an overview of what steps to take to post a comment on the forum.

The fact that you have made it to this page shows that you have an interest in posting to the forum.  It's easy to do, and we encourage you to visit the forum often with comments, ideas, questions and suggestions.

The first step in posting to the form is to be on the main forum index page.  The address of the forum page is:

http://www.powrgrip.com/cgi-bin/powrgrip/forums/index.html

You can get there by clicking on the link above, or by navigating to the word "Forums" in the lower part of the left side menu bar on any page in the Wood's Powr-Grip website.  Once you arrive at the page, it will look like this:

The first thing you need to do is point your cursor at the name of the forum that you wish to post in.  In this case, we have pointed to the E-Newsletter forum under the column heading Forum Name.  Next, click on the name of the forum and you will see this screen appear:

Next you will need to decide whether you want to post your comments to an existing topic (thread), or create a new thread (topic) of your own.  In this instance, we have chosen to Create a New Thread.  We do this by holding our cursor over the words "Create a New Thread" and clicking with the left mouse button.  Once you have done this, your screen will look like this:

This is the login form.  This page is necessary so that we know your contact information if you have a question that you need answered.
The three sections consist of:

  • Returning customer?  Please log in.  If you have already created an account on our website, this is where you would enter the email address (username) and password that you have already established.  Simply enter your email address and password and click on the word Login to proceed.
  • If you have previously logged in to our website, but you have forgotten your password, the next section is the one that you will want to concentrate on.  In the "Lost Password" section, type your email address in the box next to "Email Address".  After you have done this, click on the button that says "Send Password".  We use this as a security measure, and your password will only be sent to the email address that you originally used to register on our site.  It may take a few minutes, but we will send your password to you in your email account.  After you have this information, you can return to this page and use the Returning Customer section to log in to the site.
  • If this is your first time logging to our site, you will need to drop down to the Create New Account section of this page.  Enter your email address in the box next to the words "Email Address".  After you have entered your email address, please double check to make sure that everything is spelled correctly.  Next, drop down to the box next to the word "Password".  Although we have no limitations or restrictions on what your password should be, it is important to use something that you will easily remember.  Once you have chosen a password, it is a good idea to write that password down in a notebook that you keep all your login and password information in for future reference.  Once you have entered your password, drop down to the box next to the words "Verify Password".  You will need to type your password again in this box.  Passwords are case sensitive (capital letters matter), so make sure that you type it exactly as you did in the "Password" field above it.  Once you have verified your password, left click on the gray button that says "Create New Account".

Once you have clicked on the "Create New Account" button, the following screen will appear:

Hold your cursor over the words "Post Reply" either at the top or at the bottom of the page.  Left click with your mouse and the screen will look like this:

Under the heading "Create a New Forum Thread" you will see the question "Post anonymously?  (otherwise your name will be displayed on the posting):"  Next to it is a drop down box with the default answer of NO.  If you would like to remain anonymous with your post, left click the arrow to the right of the word NO and a flyout will present you with the answer YES as an alternative.

Next field contains the command "Type 25754 (the number is never the same) in this box".  This step has been included as a security measure, and to prevent robots from spamming us.  Simply type the number you see in the box to the right.

In the box next to the word Subject, type in the subject, or title, of your post.

In the box next to the word Body, type your entire message and then click on the words "Create Thread".  When you get done with this step, your page will look something like this:

Your post is now complete.  To return to the main page, simply click on the word "Forums" in the lower part of the left side menu.  It's as easy at that.

Once you've worked with it a bit, posting to the forum will be second nature.  It's intuitive, easy, and FUN!  So, what are you waiting for?  CLICK HERE AND GET TO POSTING!
